Description
Unlock true silicone printing on your Prusa XL The Original Prusa XL Silicone Printing Toolhead opens up a completely new class of 3D printing. Instead of extruding thermoplastic filaments, it mixes and extrudes real two-component liquid materials — starting with industrial-grade, heat-resistant silicone. This enables flexible, durable and chemically stable parts to be produced directly from your Prusa XL without molds or casting. Professional two-part mixing system The core of the system is a precision dual-feed cartridge mechanism. Two separate silicone components (A and B) are pushed from sealed tubes into a high-accuracy static mixer at the printhead. Inside the nozzle, the materials blend just before extrusion, creating a perfectly proportioned silicone bead that cures at room temperature. This design prevents clogging and ensures consistent flow, print after print. Seamless integration and easy setup Installation is fully plug-and-play: the toolhead connects directly to the Prusa XL’s toolchanger system, automatically recognised by the firmware. PrusaSlicer includes ready-made profiles for silicone extrusion, so you can start printing immediately without any additional software or calibration. The silicone cartridges are clean, disposable and simple to replace, keeping maintenance to a minimum. Hybrid 3D printing with new material freedom With the Prusa XL’s multi-tool architecture, you can combine standard FDM printing and liquid material printing in one process. For example, print a rigid PLA or PETG frame and then switch to silicone within the same part to create soft gaskets, damping elements or flexible joints. This hybrid workflow allows for mechanical assemblies and functional parts previously only achievable with industrial equipment. Precision engineering for demanding applications All mechanical components — including the linear motion, tool mount and mixer housing — are machined to industrial standards, ensuring precise layer alignment and repeatable performance. The result is consistent part geometry, strong adhesion between layers, and professional-grade surface quality even with soft materials. Applications and future-ready design Ideal for engineers, prototyping labs and R&D environments, the Silicone Printing Toolhead enables direct printing of heat-resistant gaskets, seals, vibration dampers, soft robotics components, prosthetic parts and casting molds. The open platform design will support additional materials in the future, such as polyurethanes, epoxies and other reactive resins, expanding the range of possibilities even further.
