CNMG inserts are probably the most versatile and widely used of all turning inserts. They have an 80° rhomboid shape and are ideal for general turning, facing and boring. Negative cutting geometry ensures a strong cutting edge for medium to roughing applications and they can be suitable for finishing with the right chipbreaker. CNMG inserts have 4 cutting edges when used in 95° tool holders or 8 cutting edges when used in 75° tool holders.
